Equinox is Albany County’s primary provider of services for victims of domestic violence. Our Domestic Violence Programs provide safety for victims of Domestic Violence, including the elderly, and offer the support, assistance and tools they need to escape abusive situations and take control of their lives. Domestic Violence Services are available to all victims and their dependent children, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

Position Summary:The Program Services Coordinator (PSC) works to enhance program services for the domestic violence department by staying up to date on best practices and regulatory requirements. The PSC serves as liaison for special populations’ services needs to ensure quality assurance within policies, procedures and practices of programs and department. The PSC collaborates with DV department director and program managers to ensure department staff follow all training and documentation requirements, is responsible for onboarding and training all new DV staff members, creating and providing position specific training for all new DV staff members and develops strategies for recruitment and retention of quality staff; develops, implements and monitors training requirements of all staff, interns and volunteers. The PSC is responsible for the coordination of Community Education and Outreach services and events including but not limited to: develop and provide training and education presentations related to DV, Elder Abuse, Human Trafficking and Primary Prevention; coordinate awareness month activities and department holiday drives. The PSC acts as the liaison between the development team and the DV team to coordinate donations, community drives and resource fairs and provides hotline and crisis intervention as when necessary, as a member of the DV team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for recruiting and retaining quality staff with the Department Managers.

  • Create and utilize established training standards to ensure that department staff are adequately trained to meet programs needs; implement and conduct staff training; monitor staff training completion compliance; coordinate professional development in-services and workshops.

  • Responsible for onboarding and training all new hires for DV Department. Responsible to facilitate new hire training needs with department program managers.

  • Assist in program development; research and keep up to date regarding special populations’ services needs to ensure quality assurance within policies, procedures and practices of programs and department.

  • Maintain knowledge of current state and federal regulations and best practices regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and elder abuse.

  • Meet with Department Managers and Director to develop, maintain and improve program and client services.

  • Maintain administrative responsibilities as assigned by Outreach Services Manager.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community services via networking with Domestic Violence Programs, community services agencies and other service providers, to maintain knowledge of best practices and ongoing research for the enhancement of services available to underserved populations.

  • Develop and coordinate awareness month activities, department Holiday drive, outreach events, prevention, education and training materials, and any other activities assigned by Department Managers or Director.

  • Coordinate and co-facilitate trainings, events and other activities in the community with the DV Educator.

  • Participates in department staff meetings, program staff meetings, as well as individual supervision.

  • Maintain client records according to program and regulatory requirements. Maintain statistics requirements for the agency and funding sources.

  • Meets with walk-ins to provide crisis intervention, supportive listening, information and referral; develops safety plans with clients and conducts eligibility assessments for all Domestic Violence services.

  • Respond to the 24-hour hotline, crisis chat line, and provide direct services to advocacy and case management clients, including shelter placement and alternative options.

  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships and linkages with other community services, including domestic violence programs, human services and resource programs in the region.

  • Acts in accordance with Equinox missions. Maintain the highest level of professional ethical standards. Ensures confidentiality when dealing with employees, clients and the public.

  • May represent the agency in formal and informal groups related to domestic violence services.

  • Comply with all documentation requirements.

  • Reports suspected cases of child abuse/maltreatment as a mandated reporter.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to negotiate stairs.

  • Ability to lift and carry minimum of 15 lbs.

  • Ability to handle basic facility emergencies.

  • Ability to drive and transport clients at times with agency vehicles.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services or relevant major (5 years of human services experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent OR 3 years of human services experience with an Associates' Degree will be substituted in lieu of an advanced degree.)

  • Minimum one year of human services experience.

  • Must have a clean, valid NYS Driver License, with reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior prevention and education training experience preferred.

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or an additional language

  • Prior experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, human trafficking, mental health or substance abuse populations preferred
