GovCIO IT Project Coordinator (Remote) in Albany, New York

Overview

GovCIO is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Health Services Portfolio in support of its client at the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Office of Information Technology for the Healthcare Environment and Logistics Mgmt (HELM) Portfolio. The environment is dynamic, and client needs are often evolving. As such, thought leadership, problem-solving, rapid learning, and carrying out the innovative mindset needed to lead our clients through conceptualization, strategic planning, and execution is important. Additionally, flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success. This is a US-based, fully remote position with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM ET.

Responsibilities

  • Support VA program goals, resource planning, monitoring, and reporting progress, providing oversite of contractors as well as providing complete oversight of program milestones to ensure the team is meeting those goals, and monitoring risks as required for VA leadership.

  • Leverage organizational and interpersonal skills and attention to detail to assign tasks, request information, identify action items, and manage all tasks, data requests, and action items to completion.

  • Develop succinct presentations and visualizations based on complex information using PowerPoint.

  • Prepare, coordinate, manage and lead program briefings and reports when required.

  • Validate schedule logic following data input.

  • Develop IMS related reports to communicate schedule updates, progress, risks, issues, etc.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in evaluation of future-fiscal-year resource planning for the sub product line as needed.

  • Act as liaison with HELM business sponsors to evaluate and provide input into HELM tool functional requirements.

  • The Project Coordinator will liaise with IT partners including the business owner, VA VISN/VAMC representatives, team technical SMEs, various OIT offices, and other internal or external stakeholders as required.

  • Work with VA project managers to create strategies to improve ongoing activities as needed.

  • Scheduling calendar meeting invitations and managing calendar for VA leadership, including recurring meetings, such as Weekly Status Meetings and Daily IPT/APT meetings, and ad-hoc meetings.

  • Facilitating and documenting meetings and tracking to closure meeting outcomes and action items.

  • Maintaining databases and electronic filing systems including MS Teams, SharePoint, and Excel documents.

  • Leveraging excellent presentation development skills to synthesize complex information into succinct visualizations using PowerPoint and work with graphics designers to develop advanced visualizations.

  • Managing all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects, providing a single point of contact for those projects.

  • Identifying and mitigating risks to the program in coordination with VA leadership and Technical Support teams.

  • Assist in defining and implementing project metrics for scope, schedule, cost, and quality.

  • Developing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports as required.

  • Effectively leading technical professionals and a cross-functional team.

  • Ensuring execution of quality deliverables within established schedules.

  • Collaborating with teams across the customer organization to improve processes, results, and customer experience.

  • Ensuring the organization and processes remain aligned with customer policies and external directives.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required with a total of 10 years professional experience required. An additional 8 years of related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement for a total of 18 years professional work experience.

  • IT Project Expertise - The successful candidate will have a combination of IT project experience, both large and small, and must be well-versed in the full systems development life cycle, COTS/GOTS integration, strategic information planning, business process reengineering, cloud services, risk management, testing, scheduling, and project management practices.

  • Analytical Thinking – Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve the problems in the best interest of the business.

  • Effective Communications – Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors; ability to effectively write/technical writing; and ability to translate technical approaches and methodologies.

  • Effectiveness Measurement – Ability to measure the quality and quantity of work effort for the purpose of improvement.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • PMBOK Standards, Procedures & Policies – Knowledge of and the ability to utilize a variety of project management skill sets and technical knowledge to manage organizational IT policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Problem Solving – Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Tools - Able to use project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, MS Teams, SharePoint, and capacity models.

  • Experience working with/for VA

  • Supply chain management experience

Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain suitability/public trust clearance at VA

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $90,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
