Description of Duties:
The Department of Biological Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University at Albany (UAlbany) seeks a passionate and innovative Educational Outreach Coordinator. This part-time (50% Full Time Effort) role focuses on developing, implementing, and tracking recruitment and outreach programs aimed at attracting high school, junior college, and college students to the Biological Sciences and related STEM disciplines. The Educational Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Chair of the Department and other faculty to promote our academic offerings and create opportunities for current and prospective students.
The Educational Outreach Coordinator will liaison with New York educational institutions, with a focus on local and regional high schools, to create and manage a referral network to recruit program participants to Biological Sciences and affiliated STEM training programs, summer camps and other programs. The position will also focus on enhancing public awareness of STEM research in Biological Sciences, CAS and more broadly UAlbany. This work will include extensive outreach to high schools to build connections and foster recruitment of students. This role will implement outreach activities through communication with, and travel to, regional educational institutions.
The Educational Outreach Coordinator will coordinate with staff from Biology and affiliated Departments, Institutes, Centers, along with CAS and UAlbany undergraduate admissions, to strengthen enrollment of STEM undergraduate students. The Educational Outreach Coordinator will become knowledgeable on the various research and training programs and their associated eligibility requirements to match interested students with the most appropriate and eligible program. They will work with the administrative staff and faculty across STEM departments, Centers and Institutes to develop and implement coordinated outreach/recruitment activities. The Educational Outreach Coordinator will also work with UAlbany communication specialists to develop promotional materials for STEM research and training programs and associated on-site education and outreach tours.
This position will monitor and track recruitment efforts using metrics to measure program success and improve results. The Educational Outreach Coordinator will utilize exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, clear communication skills, and competency in various computer programs to further educational outreach for the Biological Sciences Department and associated STEM programs.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting institution and a minimum of 3 years of experience in K-12 education.
Experience in curriculum development.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with deadlines and work efficiently and effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
Strong verbal, written, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Capable of setting priorities, is highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $27,000 - $30,000 per year at 50% FTE
