Equinox is Albany County’s primary provider of services for victims of domestic violence. Our Domestic Violence Programs provide safety for victims of Domestic Violence, including the elderly, and offer the support, assistance and tools they need to escape abusive situations and take control of their lives. Domestic Violence Services are available to all victims and their dependent children, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Position Summary:The Cook is responsible for assisting with all kitchen activities including menu planning, shopping, cooking and maintaining shelter kitchen in good and sanitary condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in preparation of meals for 30 bed shelter.
Responsible for some meals on a weekly basis.
Purchases food through ordering from the Regional Food Bank, other vendors, shopping and/or accepting donations.
Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, appliances, kitchenettes and dining areas.
Cleans up after meals, ensures proper food storage for leftovers.
Budgets meal plans.
Menu planning for a variety of cuisines.
Kitchen management.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Ability to use telephone.
Ability to negotiate stairs.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have a clean, valid NYS Driver License.
Knowledge of meal preparation and food safety management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience cooking for large groups.
Schedule:Varies, including Weekend & Early Evening Hours
