The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice, Law, and Behavioral Science, to begin January 2025, or as arranged with the successful candidate. Russell Sage College values in person instruction at the undergraduate level. Review of applications will begin immediately.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Law, and Behavioral Science (CJLBS) involves students in these three interconnected fields, as well as a certificate in Legal Studies, a major in Forensic Psychology, and offers an accelerated 3+3 bachelor's degree/juris doctorate degree program with affiliated law schools. In keeping with the interdisciplinarity of the program, candidates whose scholarship focuses at the intersections of law and relevant fields are highly encouraged to apply. Teaching assignments will include undergraduate courses in legal studies that incorporate an interdisciplinary lens to meet program expectations. Courses may include Introduction to Law, Legal Research, and other undergraduate legal studies courses or special topics courses based on the specific expertise of the candidate and the interest of students. There are also opportunities to teach courses for the general education program and/or graduate courses in either our Master's program in Forensic Mental Health (FMH) or in Criminal Justice and Community Corrections (CJCC).

Russell Sage College employs Boyer's model of scholarship to balance roles of faculty in the tenure and promotion process. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue their scholarship, advise students, and develop collaborative relationships with members of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department and other departments on campus.

The estimated base academic year salary range for this position is $54,000- $56,700, commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:

  • A Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.

  • A Juris Doctorate (JD) and a Master's or Ph.D. in criminal justice or closely related field are preferred.

  • Teaching experience is strongly desired.

  • Demonstrated commitment to scholarship and service is encouraged.
