JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for assisting the Clinical Dietitian with direct nutrition care in assigned resident areas. Supports the Clinical Dietitian/Dietary Manager with the daily operation of food service including monitoring production, menu development/adherence, and supervision regarding staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists with weight management collection/data entry as need per the Registered Dietician.

2. Attends scheduled weight meeting. Discusses and documents interventions on residents with weight loss/gain.

3. Conducts quarterly assessments for long term care and subsequent MDS charting (tube feeders and renal not included).

4. Attends scheduled Care Plan meetings per new care plan guidelines.

5. Responsible for Abaqis responsibilities as assigned by the Registered Dietician to include resident care as well as kitchen audits.

6. Prepares and maintains tray tickets for each shift.

7. Responsible for monitoring and updating the “Red Napkin Program”.

8. Monitors patient nourishments on each nursing unit.

9. Assesses and documents nutritional needs of each patient in accordance with the patients’ comprehensive assessment and care plan.

10. Performs inspections on patient refrigerators in resident areas for non-dated items or expired products.

11. Observes meal service in resident areas during shifts to ensure quality of service, food and menu accuracy.

12. Coordinates resident’s dining service needs with dining service team members and/or supervisors as needed.

13. Thorough knowledge and understanding of disease processes and nutrition care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Associate’s Degree from an accredited dietetic technician registered program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education of the American Dietetic Association.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 450 hours of clinical experience.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)

Experience in long term care setting preferred. Food service and/or dietetic related certifications preferred (i.e. Serve Safe)
