Sr. Financial Analyst (Job Code SFAWEB)

Responsible to improve the operation’s financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management. Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses as well as studying proposed changes in methods and materials to ensure continuous financial improvement and ensure the operations meet internal targets and benchmarks. Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts. Focus will be on materials purchases and costs. Help verify and explain price variances. Develop product costing for future business quotation. Analyze and report on tariffs, duties and variances related to index-based pricing. Standard cost creation as related to materials and all related costs. Support new business quotas by calculating ad-hoc standard costs to support Commercial team. Bridge process between plant operations and commercial quotation. Work with multiple functions related to purchasing, supply chain, commercial, subcontractors and logistics. Inventory reconciliation and reporting. Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Financial Analysis, Correction and Reporting Critical financial review of all materials related purchases and movements. Reporting analysis to upper management for review. Identify and correct errors at the source prior to reporting. Analysis of freight charges, index based pricing, foreign exchange impacts and understanding of commodity codes for proper classification. Explain and interpret financial results compared to budget and forecast, prepare causal analysis of variances. Assist in managing the month-end closing process, including preparation of journal entries. Analyze financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy and assess adequacy of reserves. Prepare and review supporting documentation for the balance sheet reconciliations for reviews. Ensure reporting reliability, consistency and transparency; complete analysis of variances and propose corrective actions to management. Costing, Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with the annual budget for US Driveline Business, including spend, materials related overhead rates and cost reduction initiatives. Work with operations teams and commercial teams to support ad-hoc standard cost calculations for new business quotation process. Prepare and analyze weekly spending and performance indicators to discern operational or financial issues and relay timely information to drive actionable solutions. Provide value-adding analysis – the right information at the right time to support decision making.

  • Master Degree in Finance, Accounting, Automotive Engineering or foreign educational equivalent. Two years of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Financial Cost Specialist or Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist. Experience must include analysis of financial data, including monthly actual results, forecasting and annual budgeting in order to develop and implement financial and management systems, monthly financial reports, forecasts and ad hoc studies for manufacturing operations.
