AKRON METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY Job Title: Self-Sufficiency Initiatives Manager Reports to: Resident Services Senior Manager Department: Resident Services FLSA Status: Exempt Minimum: $53,700 - Salary is based on background, experience, and education. General Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to support the Resident Services Director, Assistant Director, and Senior Manager as well as the mission of the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) by overseeing the planning, implementation, and operation of Self-Sufficiency initiatives and programming. The incumbent will provide team and grant management and development, program delivery, quality control, and evaluation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Grant/Program Management Prepares and submits grant applications and proposals, including gathering necessary documentation and information. Coordinates grant application(s) process by convening appropriate community partners and funders, facilitating the grant writing process, and leading the grant writing efforts in collaboration with AMHA and community partner(s). Prepares and submits grant reports for family stability and various self-sufficiency grants. Additional grants may be added as they are awarded. Maintains program policy information and communicates changes in programs, services, policies, or procedures to staff. Oversees stability and self-sufficiency programs and activities. Identifies resident needs and coordinates services and events with Service Coordinators for segments of the resident population or entire properties, resident organizations, including educational development and training, extra-curricular activities, workforce development, or other outreach workshops. Secures support for timeline and logistics from the Administrative Assistant. Ensures timely follow up on requests for services as appropriate. Serves as liaison for HUD representatives as related to resident services programming and grant activities. At the direction of the Director of Resident Services, develops and enriches community partnerships and relationships to enhance services to the clients of the AMHA. In cooperation with the Director of Resident Services, researches and evaluates AMHA's involvement in community collaborations. Recommends to the Director of Resident Services involvement where appropriate and assures that AMHA is making meaningful contributions to these efforts. Ensures that AMHA's efforts are recognized in the community and that AMHA has a voice on issues important to AMHA and its clients. Networks between agencies that benefit AMHA. Staff Supervision Evaluates and recommends job applicants who meet the skills, abilities, experience levels and competencies required by the position(s). Supervises staff including: assignment, training, evaluating, and disciplining of employees. Delegates authority and responsibility to staff as necessary to administer programs and activities and sets clear expectations and goals, provides timely feedback, and coaches staff on a regular basis. Processes, monitors, and maintains required personnel and payroll data. Communication and Reporting Prepares correspondence, technical and status reports, etc. to keep management informed of the progress of the stability and self-sufficiency programs. Analyzes, evaluates, drafts, reviews, and revises substantive correspondence as appropriate.
