Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Akron, Ohio
Actalent is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Product Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking valve designs from concept to completion, including prototyping, testing, validation, and manufacturing. This role focuses on designing specialized valves for the landfill gas industry, utilizing SolidWorks for 3D modeling and generating bills of materials based on designs. A strong emphasis is placed on research and development, adapting valve designs from other industries for landfill gas applications.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Design and Development: Take valve designs from initial concept through to final product, ensuring all design specifications and requirements are met.
Prototyping: Utilize in-house 3D printing capabilities to build prototypes and evaluate design feasibility.
Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes to ensure performance and reliability.
Manufacturing: Oversee the manufacturing process, ensuring designs are accurately translated into production.
Research and Development: Focus on R&D to adapt valve designs from other industries for use in the landfill gas sector.
Vendor Management: Identify and collaborate with vendors for outsourcing advanced prototyping and other specialized processes.
Product Simulations: Run simulations to predict product performance and identify potential improvements.
Bill of Materials: Generate and manage bills of materials based on design specifications.
Qualifications:
Experience engineering valves and mechanical housings
Prior product development and R&D experience (Concept to completion design)
Experience with solid works
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
10+ Years of mechanical engineering experience post grad
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $66.00
