ANTICIPATED (2025-26 School Year) SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:
POSITION:1.0 FTE - The Akron Central School District is seeking applicants for a school
psychologist intern position for the 2025-2026 school year.
The school psychologist intern will work under the supervision of a tenured
psychologist and the Director of Special Education. The program encompasses students grades K through 12. The successful candidate will function as a member of the educational team and will bring specialized knowledge and skills related to the learning process, techniques of assessment of learning and social adjustment, and modification of behaviors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Currently Enrolled in an accredited higher education institution School Psychology program with successful completion of all pre-requisite courses.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
To utilize psychological methods, instruments and techniques to determine learning problems.
To produce reports reflecting the results and interpretation of the above instruments to be used by school personnel in determining initial or continued eligibility for Section 504 accommodations or special education services.
Communicate with parents regarding psycho-educational reports.
Consult with teachers, administrators, support staff and other appropriate personnel regarding student needs.
Counsel students using psychological principles and techniques for the purpose of improving communication, socialization, and achievement.
Experience with crisis prevention and intervention preferred.
Perform tasks and duties related to the scope, function and role of a school psychologist as requested and/or directed by the supervisor or Director of Special Education.
Perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner with a high standard of quality.
START DATE:September 2, 2025
SALARY:Interns will receive compensation in the amount of $25,000.
