Job Title: Outdoor Forklift Operator

Job Description

The contractor will be performing two primary responsibilities on the manufacturing floor: 1) Driving the outdoor sit-down forklift to move around pallets of soil, soil containers, and packing material around a large yard. There will be some tight areas to maneuver and the forklift is large. 2) Working on the production line, cleaning, or performing basic general labor tasks, which includes lifting up to 50lbs. The role is 20% indoors and 80% outdoors, with heated forklifts available during the winter. The job will be a mix of general labor and forklift operation throughout the day, with the majority of the job focused on the forklift.

Responsibilities

• Drive the outdoor sit-down forklift to move pallets of soil, soil containers, and packing material around a large yard.

• Work on the production line, performing cleaning and basic general labor tasks.

• Lift up to 50lbs as needed.

• Operate in both indoor and outdoor environments, with most time spent outdoors.

• Assist with loading and unloading truck beds.

• Stack pallets with product.

Essential Skills

• Forklift operation experience (1+ years with outdoor forklifts, 4 prong/yellow).

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

• AB certification on the sit-down forklift.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in tight deadline environments.

• Forklift experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience working with soils or in a dirty environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fertilizer production facility, which is a dirty and dusty environment. The facility is located outside of the NE quadrant of Airdrie, about 10 minutes outside the main city, with no transit accessibility due to the location. The large plant focuses on soil production and packaging, where health and safety are paramount. Everyone in the facility is required to assist wherever help is needed, including cleanup and general labor tasks. The environment is rough, but the team is great! The shift is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, $22/hr- $24/hr with some overtime during peak season. Background checks are required for this role.
