Savannah River Mission Completion Safety and Industrial Hygiene Field Services Manager in Aiken, South Carolina
Overview
Savannah River Mission Completion is seeking a Safety and Industrial Hygiene Field Services Manager to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.
This manager plans, organizes, implements, and manages Safety and Industrial Hygiene (S&IH) staff and programs for assigned facilities/functions under the direction of Safety & Hygiene Manager. Recognizes, evaluates, recommends, and implements policies and procedures for monitoring, preventing, and mitigating chemical, biological, physical hazards, and diseases from occurring at the work site. Provides technical expertise and oversight for facility projects and company-wide programs. Manages professional, technical and support personnel.
Responsibilities
Implements and manages S&IH staff, programs, and work activities for assigned facilities, areas and/or functions.
Coordinates with other S&IH Services Managers for unified implementation and management of company level program and other initiatives as assigned by Safety & Hygiene Manager
Provides S&IH support to the company’s facilities and operations.
Performs independent oversight to assure compliance and S&IH program effectiveness, including sampling/monitoring, inspections, assessments, hazard analysis, work control reviews.
Reviews, evaluates, and incorporates S&IH standards driven by 10 CFR 851, DOE, OSHA, ACGIH, EPA and state programs. Serves as, or assigns, subject matter experts (SMEs) as necessary.
Remains cognizant of internal and external S&IH changes, including regulations, requirements, technology, trends, and other considerations that affect the company.
Incorporates new and/or changed requirements, work practices, processes, and technologies as required and as necessary for continuous improvement.
Manages staff including, but not limited to, assigning and prioritizing work, providing guidance, mentoring, evaluating performance, and resolving issues
Manages activities associated with subcontract staff and support services, including laboratory analysis and equipment calibration.
Assesses, evaluates, documents, recommends solutions, and implements corrective actions for a wide variety of S&IH issues and topical areas.
Assigns and coordinates program assessments, evaluates results and prepares technical reports and recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
Develops and delivers presentations to staff, management, DOE customers, and company employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related physical or biological science.
Preferred Qualifications
Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Board Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Expert level understanding of S&IH regulations, standard concepts, principles and techniques; along with working knowledge of standard practices, field instrumentation, and applications (e.g., exposure assessments).
5 years professional experience related to managing and leading staff, programs, and processes that support line management operations. (*Non-concurrent with time obtaining graduate degree.)
Ability to manage and lead professional, technical, and/or subcontract personnel, including staff accountability for implementing policies, procedures, programs, and management directives.
Ability to influence others and be an advocate of the change management process to enable transformation and improved performance

Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. USD $113,000.00/Yr.
