BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Weld Process Manufacturing Engineer for our Combat Missions manufacturing site in Aiken, South Carolina.
In this role, you will support combat vehicle production focusing on Weld process development.
You will lead a diverse group of talented professionals in a fast paced, challenging environment - learning and growing as you participate in the mission to support our Armed Forces who protect our nation.
You and your team will provide production floor support, review and implement engineering design changes, develop work instructions, specify tooling requirements and develop weld manufacturing processes.
Provide key input into Capital Project Implementations and acts as a Project Leader during equipment installations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or closely related degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor s degree.
10 years experience in a variety of weld processes to include GTAW and GMAW.
Experience using 3D CAD Software such as PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer, ProductView).
Proficient knowledge of material preparation processes such as deox, sandblast, mechanical cleaning.
Working knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Proficiency with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines to include MS Office Suite.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.
Demonstrated commitment to safety principals, sharing the common responsibility of identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors
Strong organizational skills and proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities to achieve a deliverable deadline.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers to meet goals and objectives
Demonstrated self-starter, who requires minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret applicable weld code and develop weld processes that meet the requirements as specified within the code.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2009
Demonstrated ability to specify and collaborate in the design and development of weld tooling that maximizes efficiency and incorporates error proofing methodologies.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Knowledge of inspection processes.
Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or Certified Weld Educator (CWE) certification a plus.
Knowledge of additional weld processes such as resistance welding, FSW, SAW and EBW
Experience with automation solutions including robotic welding and positioning devices
Knowledge of process data collection systems (Lincoln Checkpoint, Miller Insight)
Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, JBA) to be used for process routing development, configuration management, Bills of Material definition.
Knowledge of metallurgy, welding and finishing processes.
Experience supporting engineering in a prototype or production environment where weldments, fabrication of machined parts, and assembly and integration of subsystems on vehicles is performed.
Experience working with military ground vehicles.
Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
