Research Engineer
As a Research Engineer , you will play a key role in raw material evaluation and the development of monolithic castable refractory products for the Indian market, as well as support for new product trials, installations, and other issues in the field.
R&D professionals residing anywhere in the world, willing to relocate to Gujarat, India with availability to travel within India to vendors and global to corporate sites, and to attend conferences up to 20% of your working hours.
This position reports to Industrial Technical Manager [US] for technical matters and to the Managing Director [India] for administrative matters (using HBR Helix Model).
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D in Material Science, Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry
At least 10 years of experience, with the last 3 years in a leadership position and – at least – 5 years of experience in the following:
Expert in new refractory product development, refractory design, commercial monolithic refractory product manufacturing, and ceramics
Mastery with Raw Materials
Established leadership and mentoring skills
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively
Outstanding time management abilities
Proficiency in English – verbal and written
Competent presentation and communication skills
Successfully supervised and directed technician staff in previous role(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of liquid metal process technology and industrial- refractory interactions
Knowledge of thermo-mechanical behavior of refractories
In lieu of supervisory experience, project management experience or Project Management Professional Certification
Responsibilities:
Provide support for new regional product development and product improvement
Assist global raw materials team with testing and approval of new raw material sources for suitability of use in local products
Collaborate on evaluation of raw material technical specifications
Implement New Product Introduction (NPI) process, including support of ARI Operations and Quality Assurance Engineers during new product launches
Serve as subject matter expert to solve manufacturing and quality issues for India/SEA region
Help institute ARI R&D Laboratory with Global Laboratory Resources Manager
Manage R&D Laboratory Ceramic Technician team for skills training and schedule assignments
Dexterity with specification, acquisition, installation, maintenance of laboratory equipment
Work with corporate R&D on projects when needed
