We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for aSystems House Improvement Managerat our location inAhlen, Germany.

In this role you will lead the identification, prioritization, and implementation of improvement opportunities in the Polyurethane Systems House facilities. The geographic focus will initially be inAhlen, Germanywith the expectation that this role will facilitate leveraging of improvements to other plants in the region (including Erstein and Correggio). The types of improvements expected include upgrades to work processes, organizational opportunities, and digital tools as examples (list provided here is not all inclusive). In this role you apply concepts of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and similar methodologies to drive improvements.

The role includes a portion of activity in the digital space because the PU Systems business has invested significantly in new digital capabilities at the Ahlen facility. Extracting maximum value from those investments, in alignment with overall productivity goals, is a key focus area. Enabling effective integration of the existing systems from different vendors (including Siemens, Koerber, SAP, and AspenTech) is an important success criterion.

Success in this role requires influential leadership capabilities to safely drive improvements. Strong communication skills are also required as this role needs to interface with different stakeholder groups for alignment of priorities and progress reporting. Asset Productivity, Committable Capacity, and adherence to production plan are important Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Responsibilities

  • Identify gaps in performance and prioritize the closure of these gaps in order to achieve business goals (Production Rates, Lost Production, On-Time Delivery, Inventory Accuracy, Manual Interventions and Bookings, Daily Support Required, Losses due to Off-Spec, Cost, etc.)

  • Develop solutions with the Dow team and other SME’s (IT / SAP / Quality Function / Logistics Service Provider) and Contractors to close these gaps

  • Serve as a change agent for driving improvements; coordinate the activities of resources and SMEs as necessary to implement improvements

  • Engage with stakeholders and cross-discipline/cross-functional teams to report progress, agree on priorities, and drive improvements

  • Drive creation of functional specifications, testing scenarios, and gap closure plans as needed for digital systems; own management of change requests for such changes

  • Develop and Update Work Processes, ensuring users are trained effectively to allow these work processes to function well

  • Track overall progress against gap closure plan and validate effectiveness of solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus process automation, engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.

  • Influential Leadership skills:

  • Bringing people together to develop solutions that find acceptance across functions

  • Motivating and recognizing team members

  • finding a balance between short term / low cost solutions and fundamental changes required to achieve goals

  • Holding team members and contractors accountable

  • Negotiating the cost and schedule for work with contractors

  • Understanding of production operations in a batch multi-product environment including production orders, material movements, warehouse operations, the quality work stream, goods issuance and goods receiving processes

  • Basic conceptual understanding of IT networks and system integration

  • Ability to communicate in English (spoken and written) and German (especially spoken)

Additional notes

  • Domestic relocation is supported.

  • This job resides in Ahlen but can be performed from other locations within driving distance as long as regular site visits are possible for 2-3 days (bi-weekly).
