Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. Our client is looking for a CONTRACT Staff Accountant will play a vital role in managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy, and supporting decision-making through timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting or related fields and will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting: Maintain general ledger accounts by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and conducting regular audits.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and reconcile customer accounts to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.
Job Costing: Track and allocate costs to specific construction projects, monitor budgets, and provide financial insights to project managers.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations, tax laws, and company policies, including sales tax reporting and lien waivers.
Payroll Support: Collaborate with payroll teams to process employee timesheets and ensure proper allocation to projects.
System Management: Utilize construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, or Viewpoint) for financial tracking and reporting.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with construction-specific platforms is a plus.
Knowledge: Familiarity with job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, and GAAP accounting principles.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
