Job Description

* Part Time/ On Call* Pay Rate: $40.25/hr Serves as Captain of a patrol boat with the responsibility of patrolling the restricted waters of APG to ensure water safety for the general public and commercial fisherman prior-to, during, and after firing programs. Serves as Captain of the Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM-8) landing craft or self-propelled barge to transport personnel and heavy equipment to worksites. Duties and Responsibilities * Directs the activities of a mate assigned to the boat/LCM. * Maintains watercraft in a clean, safe and seaworthy condition by cleaning, painting, and caulking fiberglass. * Changing and/or replacing oil, oil filters, impellers, pumps, wheels, shafts, rudder ports and struts. * Serves and remains qualified as an operator for all other mission essential small craft in order to support ATC Range Operations. Responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep of the ATC boat dock, boat facilities and mission essential equipment.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications * Must have 3 yr. experience operating 30 ft or larger boats and maintaining watercraft to include: painting, caulking, fiberglass work, changing oil, oil filters, impellers, pumps, wheels, shafts, rudder ports, and struts. * Shall possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard Inland Waterways License for Operating Vessels less than 100 tons United States Coast Guard (USCG) Radar Endorsement for Inland Operation of Watercraft. Physical Demands and Working Conditions * The work of this position is performed in the field where you are subject to the environment and sometimes in an environmentally controlled office environment. * Must be able to ascend and descend equipment. * Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. unassisted. * Must be able to climb ladders safely. * Must be capable of squatting, crouching, standing, climbing, stooping, and sitting, sometimes for extended periods while performing duties. * Must have good manual dexterity. * Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. * Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned. * Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilities. Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements * Must be a U.S. Citizen. * Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. * Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions. * Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests. * Must be able to successfully complete a background check. * Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
