Description:

The SATCOM Engineer V serves as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) in satellite communication (SATCOM) systems engineering. This role is responsible for performing advanced technical assessments, developing and reviewing system architectures, and supporting key stakeholders in the design, analysis, and evaluation of SATCOM systems for both commercial and military applications. The engineer will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and compliance with technical requirements across all phases of SATCOM programs.

Responsibilities:

Duties include:

  • Provide in-depth technical assessments and analysis of SATCOM systems, including activities within and between programs.

  • Support the design and evaluation of SATCOM architectures, terminals, waveforms, and access protocols to ensure alignment with operational requirements.

  • Conduct comprehensive systems engineering evaluations of satellite and terminal designs, focusing on system performance, throughput, and response time.

  • Participate in proposal and technical evaluations for SATCOM systems, supporting design reviews and evaluating contractor designs.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in transmission technologies, including modulation and coding, link budgets, radio frequency equipment, antennas, waveforms, blockage mitigation, and other algorithms or protocols.

  • Serve as a technical lead for SATCOM-related design reviews, configuration audits, and systems engineering evaluations.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with organizations such as Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications - Tactical (PEO C3T), Army Capabilities Manager (ACM), Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), and industry vendors.

  • Provide SATCOM system analysis and evaluations for commercial and military systems, bringing expert knowledge of systems engineering methods and processes.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and related certification processes.

  • Support customer/vendor product development, business proposals, and interaction with marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert for SATCOM engineering projects, providing leadership in technical evaluations and system design.

  • Lead the coordination and communication of complex technical matters across program teams and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and other regulatory requirements.

  • Lead and support the analysis of operational requirements and system loading for SATCOM systems.

Experience Requirements:

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of SATCOM technologies, including modulation, coding, RF equipment, antennas, and waveforms.

  • Proven experience in systems engineering and SATCOM system design for both military and commercial systems.

  • Familiarity with Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and certification processes.

  • Ability to lead integrated project teams and effectively coordinate between program offices, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills for system performance evaluation and issue resolution.

Education Requirements:

Education Requirement:

  • BS in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.

  • Engineering discipline preferred.

  • Additional experience may not be substituted for the required degree.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
