The Opportunity:

Our location in Abbott Park, IL has an immediate opening for a Procurement Manager, External Engagement.

What You'll Work On:

  • Work collaboratively across relevant functions to identify and execute opportunities for supply chain advancement within Abbott’s Nutrition Business.

  • In conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders, serve as Abbott Nutrition Procurement’s Sustainability Liaison to ensure flawless execution of Abbott’s 2030 Sustainability Goals.

  • Create, execute, and report on supply chain and sustainability projects designed to benefit supply resiliency for ingredients, deliver on Abbott’s sustainability goals, and impact communities and people.

  • Proactively gather market intelligence on sustainability, regulatory, trade, and legislative activity to inform action on emerging business issues in ingredient and packaging supply and align with internal and external stakeholders to resolve before supply chain disruptions occur.

  • Utilize external networks to advise and influence globally on relevant external issues in the sustainability, ingredient, and packaging spheres.

  • Work with the Global Procurement Team to provide solutions to ingredient and packaging supply issues.

  • Create opportunities and be the voice of Abbott Nutrition in influencing ingredient and packaging industries as well as governments, as appropriate, by participating in external forums such as speaking engagements, industry meetings, trade association activities, and identifying areas where Abbott colleagues can contribute as noted.

  • Develop and execute programs/projects that create mutual community and company benefit and where appropriate amplify impact of executed projects in partnership with external stakeholders including NGOs, governments, and foundations.

  • Benchmark supplier and competitor activities and identify opportunities for engagement benefitting Abbott Nutrition.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • BS in sciences, economics, international trade, public policy, political science, environmental science, food science, business, engineering or related, MBA or advanced degrees welcome.

  • 6+ years of experience in sustainability, government affairs, international trade policy, industry engagement, capacity building, regulatory affairs, food ingredient or packaging procurement, or other relevant field of expertise.

Preferred

  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and sustain external engagement strategies in both emerging and developed markets.

  • A comprehensive network of contacts in food and/or packaging industries cultivated through academic, governmental, and private industry work experience.

  • An expert problem-solver who can influence diverse stakeholders to achieve goals of the organization.

  • An experienced international traveler able to travel independently to global destinations.

  • Ability to travel 15-25%

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
