LOCATION AND POSITION INFORMATION:

This position is located atPalmetto Island State Park in Abbeville, LA .

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period. Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.

No experience or training is required.

To keep building interiors, exteriors, and grounds clean and maintained.

Level of Work:

Entry.

Supervision Received:

Close from an employee of higher level.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Location of Work:

Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, Office of State Parks.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Custodian by the added responsibility for maintaining the grounds, working the fee station, assisting visitors, and performing general maintenance tasks.

Differs from Maintenance Repairer 1 by lack of responsibility for repair and maintenance of equipment and of structural components of buildings.

Examples of Work

Cleans and disinfects buildings.

Changes linens and washes dishes.

Picks up, collects and disposes of trash, garbage, litter, and debris; mows and trims grass, fells trees, prunes shrubs, weeds flower beds, rakes leaves, and splits firewood.

Paints buildings, trash barrels, picnic tables, grills, and signs; performs manual labor.

Works fee station involving collecting fees, issuing receipts; answers questions about facility and assists visitors as needed.

May perform simple clerical and/or account clerk tasks.
