Position: Sleep Study Associate Tech (Registered, Certified, or Non-Certified)

Job Status: Full Time; 40 hours per week, some overtime may be needed; Varied Day & Night shifts to learn sleep clinic

    Duties:

  • If you are not registered or certified learn to be proficient in the field of polysomnography in order to become certified then registered. Program is expected to take 12-18 months and student must be certified within 3 months of eligibility to complete certification exam. All expenses to be covered by HNJH

  • Selected candidate will participate in a 2 week in class university style program in Memphis Tennessee and will complete an on-the-job training. Initially, some overnight travel will be required.

  • Student will learn to operate polysomnographic equipment in order to measure various diagnostic sleep patterns. Learn all facets of performing sleep studies for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.

  • Will learn to review patient medical chart, explain procedures to patients/families. Prepare patients for testing, score testing as appropriate and maintain equipment.

  • Candidate will also learn daily office duties of sleep lab - scheduling, mask fitting, equipment ordering, and billing.

    Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; college education preferred but not required

  • 6 months of direct patient care experience preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required

  • Must be motivated, hardworking and able to work independently

  • Familiar with medical terminology desired. Allied health background preferred but not required

    Registered or Certified:

  • Graduate of an allied health field and completion of a nationally accredited/recognized program in Polysomnography or willing to obtain

  • BLS required

  • ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire
