FIELD APPLICATION ENGINEER

JOB OVERVIEW:

TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, requirement modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications and conduct on-site installation and service of product and are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support. They also approve the operational quality of systems and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations, necessitating proficiency in assembling LV & MV cable accessories.

  • Prepare and manage comprehensive product documentation, including bills of materials and assembly instructions.

  • Utilize application engineering to tailor existing products to specific customer requirements.

  • Provide expert product selection advice to customers and the internal sales team.

  • Deliver customer support during the introduction and installation of new and existing products, both on-site and in customer training centers.

  • Train customer trainers on the implementation and use of new and existing products.

  • Collaborate with Product Management and R&D during the new product development process, offering insights and incorporating customer/application requirements.

  • Install prototype cable accessories for type testing.

  • Offer technical expertise during the tendering process.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering

  • Strong engineering background in electrical or mechanical disciplines

  • Fluency in English

  • Over 5 years of experience in testing, application, or after-sales support

  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship within the electrical engineering field

  • Preferably, experience in the Power Utility or Cable/Accessory industry

  • Highly practical with excellent hand skills and a problem-solving aptitude

  • Proficient in computer use and holds a valid driving license

  • Willingness to attend a two-week TE Energy training program and spend several months working in the laboratories in Ottobrunn, Germany
